Silicone molds are special molds for making handicrafts. The raw materials of rubber tools can be divided into ordinary silicone and weather silicone according to their properties, and silicone is characterized by high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, strong tear resistance and high simulation fineness, and is a mold for making various handicrafts.
Silicone molds are usually made from a material called room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone.RTV silicone consists of two parts, which is a simple material that is soft and cures quickly. After curing, the silicone will remain flexible and elastic-like, but it depends on the hardness of the rubber you choose to use. The silicone may also tear or break if stretched too much.
Advantages of silicone molds.
1. Easy to use.
2. Can replicate the tiny details on the model.
3. Non-stick mold with excellent demolding performance.
4. Good acid and alkali resistance to most chemicals.
5. It has excellent tear resistance and can be used repeatedly for many times.
6. Can be used in the temperature range of -50 to +250 °C.
Silicone molds have a wide range of uses, from professional quality vacuum casting for prototypes to small batch wax casting for jewelry making to home applications such as baking and candy making for replicating figurines, jewelry, artifacts, collectibles, candles, etc.
